On September 28, Vietnam Machine Investment Development Joint Stock Company (VIMID – stock code: VVS) successfully organized the 2024 Automotive Technician Skills Competition, attracting a large number of technicians from branches nationwide. The event not only aims to improve the technical expertise of the team but also serves as an opportunity for VIMID to further reinforce its after-sales service quality, building strong trust with customers.

Overview of the 2024 Automotive Technician Skills Competition.

In the medium and heavy truck business, technicians play a critical role in maintaining the quality of warranty, maintenance, and repair services. With a customer-centric approach, VIMID organized the Skills Competition to assess and enhance the expertise of its technicians – the professionals directly responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the trucks distributed by the company.

Mr. Nguyễn Vũ Trụ, CEO of VIMID, was a special guest at the competition.

Also in attendance was Mr. Bao Jing Wen, Director of Sinotruk International in Vietnam, along with other leaders and experts from the Sinotruk manufacturing facility.

Notably, the event welcomed distinguished professors from the University of Transport and Communications (UTC), including: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Văn Như, Head of the Automotive Engineering Department, UTC; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thành Công, Deputy Head of the Automotive Engineering Department, UTC; M.Sc. Nguyễn Quang Cường, Lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UTC. Additionally, outstanding students from UTC were invited as guests.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Lê Văn Quang, Director of VIMID’s Service Division, stated that the annual Automotive Technician Skills Competition is organized to enhance the professional knowledge of technicians, while also encouraging continuous learning, skill development, and proactive engagement from each participant. The competition serves as a platform to evaluate the quality and technical proficiency of technicians across the entire VIMID system.

“Technicians are the unsung heroes, making crucial contributions to the company’s success. Today’s competition is an opportunity to honor their invaluable efforts,” emphasized Mr. Quang.

The 2024 competition was structured in two stages. The preliminary round was held at individual branches on October 10, 2024, where talented technicians were selected to advance to the finals, hosted at the West Hanoi Branch on September 28, 2024.

This year’s final round brought together top industry judges and experts, recognized for their extensive experience, high technical expertise, and professional credibility.

The technicians anxiously drew lots for their practical test assignments.

The 2024 Automotive Technician Skills Competition featured multiple specialized rounds, covering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Technicians were comprehensively evaluated on their expertise and hands-on abilities related to the maintenance and repair of the medium and heavy-duty trucks distributed by VIMID.

In addition, the competition encouraged innovation through the Technical Innovation segment, where technicians proposed solutions to improve maintenance and repair processes and optimize workshop operations. These creative ideas not only enhance work efficiency but also have practical applications in the company’s daily operational procedures.

The technicians diligently worked through the practical rounds, showcasing their skills and expertise.

After a full day of intense and competitive testing, with fair and transparent evaluation by the judging panel, the final results were announced: 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize, and 5 Consolation Awards.
